The blurb ob by blob...

My photo
Mother, writer and daydreamer. Also chocoholic and chick-flick lover. But mainly mommy. To two boys, at that! When not escorting my Elder One (EO) to karate class, I'm trying to get in as many cuddles as possible from my Younger One (YO). And when not doing either, I'm hard-at-work trying to maintain a steady relationship with my laptop. And as for the Man I Married (MIM), well, let’s just put it this way – even though we share a bedroom, our most meaningful conversations are held over the cell-phone!

The Rock of All Things

I hang your name
about my neck
and it dangles
between my breasts.
Sometimes a pendant;
beautiful
light,
inobtrusive
yet reassuring me that
it's there.
Sometimes a boulder;
burdening me
with the very idea of
your existence.

Rock,
boulder,
diamond
or coloured glass,
it changes face
with the varying moods
of my love
and indifference
and reminds me
of your place
in my Book.

@Monika: Thank you, as always!

@Namesake: Wow! I wasn't even thinking of a mangalsutra when I wrote this (we Bongs don't wear them, you see). It was jus a stray thought that popped into my head as I was holding my pendant and reading something.

@namesake: Listen girl, I simply LOVED your interpretation of it! I didn't see it that way, but now I do! Poetry is a personal experience, just like art...it's your interpretation that matters. There's no real right or wrong, it's all subjective.
